China Ranks Second Among Portuguese Footwear Imports

According to Portuguese footwear, leather products and related accessories manufacturing industry association, last year, Portugal imported footwear from China totaling 27 million euros, up 37.9% over the same period last year, becoming Portugal's second largest source of footwear imports, second only to Spain.

Spain is Portugal's largest source country of footwear imports (128 million euros), accounting for 40% of Portuguese footwear imports.

Holland is Portugal's third largest source of footwear imports (26 million euros), down 15% from the same period last year.

As of September 2007, Portugal's footwear imports amounted to 291 million euros, an increase of 12.5% over the previous year, with an export volume of 956 million euros, an increase of 2.2% over the same period last year.
