Market background:

CIFS is a comprehensive textile and clothing exhibition covering Sri Lanka covering yarn, fabrics and textile products. The target audience is from Sri Lanka's entire textile and garment industry.

The textile and garment industry accounted for 70% of the country's exports and exports amounted to US $5 billion, and most of the country's yarn and clothing fabrics were dependent on imports.

Sri Lanka is closely following India, Bangladesh and Vietnam, becoming a big exporter of garments.

Investment in textile and garment industry is increasing.

The Sri Lanka international textile and garment industry exhibition will provide one-stop service for the textile and apparel industry. It will provide exhibitors an excellent platform for direct exchange between buyers and sellers.

After China's accession to the WTO, textile and garment machinery has developed rapidly and its quality has improved rapidly. Its market share has expanded rapidly in Asian and African developing countries.

Textile and garment machinery imported from China by India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and Vietnam and other ASEAN countries has increased substantially.

In the past, most of the textile and garment machinery in these countries were imported from Japan.

Textile enterprises in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in South Asia generally believe that the quality of China's textile and garment machinery has been greatly improved. They like to buy Chinese textile and garment machinery.

In 2006, the delegation of Sri Lanka's garment export industry visited Shanghai, China. The head of the delegation, Sri Lanka export garment association, said that China's cheap textile machinery and accessories brought opportunities to Sri Lanka far greater than the threat posed to the garment industry.

He believes that China's cheap and fine textile and garment machinery and accessories will create new business opportunities for Sri Lanka's textile and garment exports.

The Sri Lanka textile and Apparel Association has decided to set up a specialized agency in Shanghai to help the importers of the country establish long-term cooperative relations with Chinese textile and garment machinery exporters and expand the import volume.

In the past, most of the machinery used in the textile and garment manufacturing industry came from Japan.

With China's entry into the WTO, China's textile and garment machinery is developing rapidly and will become the main supplier of textile and garment machinery in India, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
